Prof Daniel Granato – Finally, a Meal Shake Backed by Science

Prof Daniel Granato – Finally, a Meal Shake Backed by Science

Prof Daniel Granato – Finally, a Meal Shake Backed by Science

There are all these shakes out there that claim to be healthy but are they really?

Will you actually notice a difference in your energy and recovery?

The first thing to look at are the ingredients: do they contain healthy natural ingredients that help your health?

But even then just because there are healthy ingredients, say superfoods in there it doesn't mean you'll get the benefits.

Your body needs to be able to absorb those ingredients.

Very few protein shakes or meal shakes have actually conducted the studies to check for this. Also there is another critical question to consider:

Will you get the same benefit as eating fruit and vegetables?

To answer this we asked an independent professor in Food Science and Health to put Whole Supp, a superfood meal shake to the test.

A science-backed meal shake

Whole Supp contains only 13 superfoods, in quantities that add value.

Here is the short list of ingredients each backed by individual scientific studies:

  1. Whole Oats
  2. Pea Protein
  3. Sunflower Seeds
  4. Brown Rice Protein
  5. Flaxseeds
  6. Spinach
  7. Organic Cherries
  8. Broccoli
  9. Beetroot
  10. Coconut
  11. MCT Oil
  12. Red Sea Algae
  13. Cacao or Vanilla Bean (depends on flavour)

From vibrant organic cherries and beetroots to leafy greens like broccoli and spinach, superfoods are bursting with antioxidants that nourish our bodies and promote recovery.

These antioxidants play a crucial role in combating the effects of free radicals – unstable molecules which occur naturally in the body and can negatively impacting your energy, immune system and overall health.

Antioxidants fight that damage and reduce the stress on your cells ensuring you have more energy and recover faster from workouts.

But having antioxidants in there was not enough for us. That is why we did the research.

Putting Whole Supp to the test

In the laboratory, Prof Daniel Granato, from the University of Limerick used multiple cell experimental techniques to test whether antioxidants remained potent when distilled in Whole Supp's shake form, and whether their ability to protect against free radicals would be compromised.

In less sciency terms: Do you get the same benefits as consuming fruits and vegetables? Is it actually healthy?

Specifically, he looked at polyphenols and flavonoids, which are potent forms of antioxidants that appear in plants.

Conclusion of the study

Prof Daniel’s research found that antioxidants in Whole Supp not only remained intact when in a shake form, but also that the availability of both polyphenols and flavonoids increased after digestion.

This means that Whole Supp can retain and increase its antioxidant capacity, unaffected by the form that the antioxidants exist in.

The ability of Whole Supp to protect against oxidative damage increased following digestion due to the high potency of antioxidants in the shake. These antioxidant capacities were over and above what would be seen in equivalent quantities of Blueberries, Goji Berries and Broccoli.

Why not just eat whole foods instead?

At Whole Supp we encourage a food first approach always.

And if you’re not too keen on your greens, or struggle to find the time to cook a nutritious meal every day, we’ve figured out how to make them accessible to everyone. We've rolled a ton of antioxidants into a superfood shake that’s ready in seconds. Plus, it tastes like a milkshake.

Kickstart your Whole Supp journey now with a starter pack for just £29.99 or €34.99!

It is particularly important for people living an active lifestyle to get enough antioxidants, whether that means through heavy exercises or a physically demanding job.

Physical movement causes inflammation in the body, and if you don’t allow yourself sufficient time and nutrition to recover, you risk injury, illness or slower recovery.

Antioxidants aid this process of recovery, ensuring you can stay active for longer in the long-term.

Plus, antioxidant-rich foods are usually high in fibre, low in saturated fat and cholesterol, and packed full of vitamins and minerals. Fibre is essentially for a healthy bowel and can help control your blood sugar levels, and our shake is packed full of it.

Try Whole Supp today

So, with a stamp of science approval, we know that the superfood ingredients in our shake still fulfil their anti-inflammatory and recovery functions in a shake form.

If you’re worried about meal shakes being bad for you, Whole Supp is for you – get the nourishing health benefits of our superfood ingredients in the form of a quick, tasty shake.
